Retatrutide is an investigational synthetic peptide that acts as an agonist at three distinct G protein-coupled receptors. It combines activity at the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, and the glucagon receptor within a single molecule. This multi-receptor profile distinguishes it from earlier incretin-based compounds that engage one or two of these pathways. Researchers designed the molecule to test whether simultaneous activation produces greater metabolic effects than single or dual agonism alone.
The peptide backbone is chemically modified to resist rapid enzymatic breakdown in the body. A fatty acid side chain promotes binding to serum albumin, which slows renal clearance and supports an extended circulation time. These modifications allow less frequent administration than would be possible with an unmodified peptide. The precise contribution of glucagon receptor activation to the overall metabolic effect remains an area of active investigation, because glucagon raises glucose while also increasing energy expenditure.
Development has progressed through early- and mid-stage human studies in adults with obesity and with type 2 diabetes. Published phase 2 data reported reductions in body weight and improvements in glycemic markers over the treatment period. No regulatory agency has approved the compound for any indication, and it remains available only within controlled research settings. Whether benefits observed in trials translate into durable outcomes after treatment stops is not yet established.
Peptides in this class degrade mainly through hydrolysis, oxidation, and aggregation. The lipid modification improves plasma residence time but can also promote self-association in aqueous solution at higher concentrations. Oxidation of methionine and deamidation of asparagine residues are common chemical liabilities that accumulate during storage. Stability studies therefore track purity loss, aggregate formation, and changes in receptor-binding potency over time under defined temperature and humidity conditions.
Solid peptide is generally held as a lyophilised powder at low temperature to slow degradation, with desiccant to limit moisture uptake. Reconstituted solutions are less stable and are usually kept refrigerated and protected from light for short periods. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided because they encourage aggregation. Laboratory handling includes work in a fume hood or laminar flow cabinet to limit inhalation and contamination. Weighing and transfer steps are performed with antistatic tools to reduce static-driven loss of fine powder.
Clinical development has progressed through phase 2 trials in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes, with phase 3 programs reported as ongoing. Reported outcomes include reductions in body weight and improvements in glycemic measures over defined treatment periods. Whether these effects translate into durable benefits after treatment ends remains an open question. Long-term safety data across broad populations are not yet complete, and regulatory decisions have not been announced.
Retatrutide is an investigational synthetic peptide engineered to activate three distinct hormone receptors within a single molecule. It targets the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, and the glucagon receptor simultaneously. This triagonist design distinguishes it from earlier incretin-based compounds that act on one or two of these pathways. Structural modifications relative to native gut hormones extend its residence time in circulation. The molecule remains under clinical evaluation and is not approved for any indication.
Receptor activation produces downstream effects that differ by tissue. GLP-1 receptor signaling influences appetite regulation and insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. GIP receptor activity contributes to metabolic handling of nutrients and may modulate adipose tissue. Glucagon receptor engagement raises energy expenditure and promotes hepatic lipid turnover, though the balance among these actions in humans is still being characterized. Preclinical models showed reductions in body weight and improved glycemic markers.
The intended pharmacology combines three signals in one molecule. GLP-1 receptor activation reduces appetite and slows gastric emptying, effects already exploited by approved incretin-based therapies. GIP receptor engagement is associated with improved insulin sensitivity and with direct effects on adipose tissue, although how much it contributes to overall outcomes is still debated. Glucagon receptor agonism raises energy expenditure and supports hepatic lipid handling, a mechanism that also tends to increase glucose output. The triple profile is hypothesized to produce a larger metabolic effect than single or dual agonism, but the relative weight of each receptor in humans is not settled.
Human evidence remains limited to controlled studies. A phase 2 trial in adults with obesity reported large, dose-dependent reductions in body weight over 48 weeks, with gastrointestinal events as the most frequently recorded adverse effect. Phase 3 programs designated TRIUMPH, for obesity, and TRANSCEND, for type 2 diabetes, are intended to confirm efficacy and to characterize safety in larger populations. Related studies are examining conditions such as knee osteoarthritis in people with obesity and metabolic liver disease. Open questions include long-term tolerability, effects on lean mass, and what happens after treatment is stopped.
Unlike the Push mode, players can capture any area regardless of which team controls the other areas. On some maps, players are awarded with points for every 30 seconds they control an area while on other maps, teams are rewarded with reinforcements every 30 seconds when every single area is controlled by that team. OBJ (Objective) – The last type of objective is a collective of objectives that do not fall under the other four types, or is a combination of different types of objectives. On most obj maps, players have to plant bombs in order to destroy certain map areas. The bombs can be defused within 30 seconds by the opposing team to prevent this.
=== Polycythemia in neonates === Polycythemia in newborns is defined as hematocrit > 65%. Significant polycythemia can be associated with blood hyperviscosity, or thickening of the blood. Causes of neonatal polycythemia include:
The esophagus, commonly known as the foodpipe or gullet, consists of a muscular tube through which food passes from the pharynx to the stomach. The esophagus is continuous with the laryngopharynx. It passes through the posterior mediastinum in the thorax and enters the stomach through a hole in the thoracic diaphragm—the esophageal hiatus, at the level of the tenth thoracic vertebra (T10). Its length averages 25 cm, varying with an individual's height. It is divided into cervical, thoracic and abdominal parts. The pharynx joins the esophagus at the esophageal inlet which is behind the cricoid cartilage. At rest the esophagus is closed at both ends, by the upper and lower esophageal sphincters. The opening of the upper sphincter is triggered by the swallowing reflex so that food is allowed through. The sphincter also serves to prevent back flow from the esophagus into the pharynx. The esophagus has a mucous membrane and the epithelium which has a protective function is continuously replaced due to the volume of food that passes inside the esophagus. During swallowing, food passes from the mouth through the pharynx into the esophagus. The epiglottis folds down to a more horizontal position to direct the food into the esophagus, and away from the trachea. Once in the esophagus, the bolus travels down to the stomach via rhythmic contraction and relaxation of muscles known as peristalsis. The lower esophageal sphincter is a muscular sphincter surrounding the lower part of the esophagus.

=== Adrian Shephard === Adrian Shephard is the protagonist of Half-Life: Opposing Force. He is a 22-year old corporal in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) stationed at the fictional Santego Military Base in Arizona who is mysteriously transferred to the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit (HECU), a special USMC unit. Three months after his transfer, he is sent to the Black Mesa Research Facility (BMRF) to defeat the Xenian invasion and summarily execute all BMRF personnel. However, the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey transporting him is hit by a Xenian energy blast and crashes; he is rescued by a group of Black Mesa scientists, and due to never making it to his designated landing zone, Shephard remains unaware of the secret orders to kill all BMRF employees. Making his way through the facility while being observed by the G-Man, he eventually comes across a thermonuclear weapon brought in by the Central Intelligence Agency and deactivates it, but the G-Man later reactivates it, leading to the eventual destruction of Black Mesa. In the end, the G-Man reveals that he has successfully argued for Shephard's life, detaining him in some unknown void. The G-Man expresses a degree of respect for Shephard, offering praise for his ability to "adapt and survive against all odds" which "rather reminds [the G-Man] of [himself]". Shephard is briefly mentioned in Half-Life: Blue Shift, where a HECU marine grumbles about taking over some of Shephard's squad's duties.
=== Isotope ratio as tracer for fingerprint === In many areas of study the origin of a chemical or group of chemicals is of central importance. Questions such as the source of environmental pollutants, the origin of hormones in an athlete's body, or the authenticity of foods and flavorings are all examples where chemical compounds need to be identified and sourced. Hydrogen isotopes have found uses in these and many other diverse areas of study. Since many processes can affect the DHR of a given compound this ratio can be a diagnostic signature for compounds produced in a specific location or via a certain process. Once the DHRs of a number of sources are known the measurement of this ratio for a sample of unknown origin can often be used to link it back to a certain source or production method.
It was initially sold in a flask-like container shaped with a narrow neck to prevent moisture from seeping into the product. Another theory is that in 1916, Tanaka Foods developed "Travel Friend"(旅行の友) in cans at the request of the military as a nutritional supplement. This is a blend of dried small fish powder seasoned with soy sauce, sesame, seaweed, and egg. In 1927, a grocery retailer in Fukushima City named Seiichirō Kai developed a mixture consisting of ishimochi (石持 or 石首魚, silver white croaker, Pennahia argentata) with soy sauce seasoning, kelp, and sesame seeds. He founded the Marumiya Food Research Institute. Kai called his product Kore Wa Umai (これは旨い, 'This Is Tasty'); it was popular on its release. Although Kore Wa Umai was initially considered a luxury item for the affluent who were able to consume white rice on a regular basis, it later was made accessible to the Japanese working class.
